Southern Eye Bank
CELEBRATING 61 YEARS OF RESTORING SIGHT
1947-2008
On July 31, 1947 the fourth oldest eye bank in the United States opened their doors. During that year, 13 recipients received a corneal transplant with tissue recovered by our non-profit organization. Since then, our organization has recovered, evaluated, and distributed ocular tissue to over 25,000 patients in need of a sight saving corneal transplant.

EYE TO EYE exhibit
celebrates 5th birthday
The Louisiana Children's Museum has re-opened! Eye-to-Eye, sponsored by Southern Eye Bank, was designed to teach youngsters
(and adults) the importance of visual health and education. The
1,000 square foot vision exhibit, sponsored by Southern
Eye Bank, allows visitors to walk into giant eyes and
learn their functions, check your vision in a pint size
ophthalmologist's office, perform "corneal transplant
surgery" on an alligator, walk through a hall of optical
illusions and much more!
